| Dancer's Cut for a Cure |
 |
Hi, my name is Alyson Love. At Sam's Day 2008, Sam's brother Ben and
dad Jay challenged me to grow my hair until next year (June 2009) . At
first, I didn't think anything about it. Then, a couple days after, I
decided I would do it for real. I really wanted to this because about 2
years ago, I volunteered at Sam's Day and fell in love with Sam's story.
I then decided that I was going to help by making bracelets. I still do
and I have raised more than I ever thought. Now, I want to help more,
and that's why I'm doing "Dancer's Cut For A Cure". I am so excited to
find out how much I can actually raise. Hey, guess what? Now my best
friend Kendra says that if I overpass my goal and raise $2000, she will
cut her hair too! This is for Sam and Ben! Raised as of Oct 5: $675

 | In lieu of giving holiday gifts to Mrs. Zicari and Mme. Martin, the
families of Pineland Public School school classes 3-1 FI and 3-2 FI
generously made donations of more than $450 to the James Fund.
Students in these classes had an opportunity to present on a charity they
knew something about and the classes at large participated in a vote to
decide which charity the donations would be directed to. Bennet
Woodley's presentation on Sam's Day won the vote. See the
letter
from Diana Birrell of The James Fund.

 | Campbell Family - Caitlyn and Taylor Campbell asked for donations to Sam's
Day in lieu of gifts at their birthday party. Their parents organized
a skating party on December 27th as a birthday celebration for their
daughters. The party was attended by more than 100 family members and
friends. The girls collected over $1,500 in donations for Sam's
Day. Thank you for your generosity and kindness!

 | Alyson Love, a Grade 6 student at Maplehurst Public School volunteered at
Sam's Day. To help raise awareness, she subsequently did a
presentation
to her class about her volunteer experience and neuroblastoma. Alyson
then had a lemonade stand and sold her own handcrafted bracelets and
SickKids bravery bead necklaces to help raise more than $50 towards Sam's
Day 2007 proceeds. Alyson is a terrific kid and we wish her great luck in
Grade 7 at Aldershot!

 | Nancy Kumpf of Aldershot purchased the Puddicombe Winery Tour &
Tasting Party from the Sam's Day silent auction and has invited 15 friends
to attend the event on July 31st, and has requested for each to make a Sam's
Day donation in lieu of contributing to the tour/tasting. Nancy continues to
be innovative and creative in her support of our cause. Nancy continued
support is so gratefully appreciated!
